ok you need to listen to all of this to know my problem

I reinstalled windows xp and now i have no sound. I have the same speakers as i've always had and they've always worked.
I've reinstalled windows before the same way, but i still had sound after the reinstall. This time i dont.

The sound doesn't work from my computer speakers OR my external speakers. I sometimes get a sort of 'eep' sound when something goes wrong, which is weird as the computer won't play any other sounds.

When i go to Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel it says 'No Audio Device' so i cant do anything there. In device manager there is nothing under sounds except codecs and stuff. I've tried adding new hardware but it won't find my speakers. My speakers didn't come with an installation disc.

My speakers are from the company 'tsunami'. My computer (motherboard or whatever) is a HP Vectra 4L00.
I cant find any sound drivers to download for this model.

I would really appreciate any help thx.

when you go to sounds and audio devices no device has been installed so you will have no sound. go control panel then system and choose the hardware tab and then device manager, have a look at your list of devices if there is a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark right click on this device then choose update driver and follow the prompts.
as a general rule nearly all of the computers i have come across have no form of sound other than a speaker which is connected to the mobo, this is to simply give audible beeps which relate to errors and boot problems.

Usually you get a disc with the applications and drivers on it as well as you windows recovery disc if you put in the applications and drivers disc you should be able to re-install the sound and audio devices. Good Luck

I think the eep sound comes from a separate little mobo speaker.
Double check that hardware list. Do you have built in mobo sound, or a sound card?
