I actually expected Snoop to get it first. Bob's right, will get the points

Angela James is the first person (man or woman) with African American bloodlines to be inducted into the IIHF hall of fame.

She's also the first woman athlete to be inducted into any major Hall of Fame associated with the big 5 world team sports (baseball, basketball, football, and soccer). I thought Mia Hamm and that tall US basketball star from the 70s had been inducted in thjeir respective HOF's but apparently not.

I listened to an interview this morning where they compared James to Wickenheiser to see which one was the best female hockey player of all time, and Angela won in a landslide, after the unceremonius way she was dumped from Team Canada prior to the 98 Olympics, I think it's fitting that she's the first woman elected.

I think you are thinking of Val James of Ocala, California who played with the Sabres and Leafs in the mid to late 80s. I do not think he is related as he is much darker than Angela. I could be wrong, Val was nothing more than a goon. The first black goon in the NHL.

I meant Ocala, Florida (before TBL and Haley jump all over me)....well, maybe Haley jumpoing all over me wouldn't be bad...but not TBL

LITY, I just missed the boat on this one (I was at work all day today).

Yes, I definitely consider her a pioneer, not just for people of color but for all women as well. Besides, she could do circles around the Cammi Granatos and Hayley Wickenheisers of the world!

Apart from the HOF deal, wasn't her brother drafted by the Leafs and had a cup of coffee with them around 1990?
