I am a Reiki master, and have given Reiki to my daughter, so she is familiar with the sensations. She swears her cat gave her Reiki today. Anybody else had a similar experience or ever hear of such a thing?

My daughter is 18, she told me she felt the usual "Reiki" sensations of tingling, warmth, peacefulness, relaxation, etc. which she would be familiar with as I have given her Reiki several times. The cat was not massaging her.

I'm a level one Reiki practitioner and know a considerable amount of other styles of energy work. Most energy work is done through intentions. We are all energetic beings and energy is exchanging constantly. Your daughter may be noticing that exchange. And perhaps the cat, which (in Amerindian tradition) is a leader when all things are falling apart, is providing some of its natural healing energy.

I've had that experience with a few different cats over the years. I was taught by a previous master that certain animals may be more in tune with Reiki energy and can act as amplifiers.

Seeing as animals are closer to the "original" nature and haven't been contaminated by human reasoning, I would think that they could give reiki. Animals think in clearer, psychic ways than humans, and they can pick up on the least imbalance in a person. My reiki teacher had a cat who could pick up blockages, so it stands to reason they could give reiki as well.

This is quite common. I had a dog who used to give me
Reiki frequently. I have a friend who is also a reiki master whose cat used to assist in many of her healing sessions.
Once when I was at the park with my dogs a woman, who was a complete stranger, walked up to me and said, "You've been doing Reiki on those dogs haven't you?"
She was feeding the squirrels when we walked up and she could tell that the dogs carried the healing energies by the way the squirrels responded to them.

aslam-o-Alikum,
Love Light and Peace, I myself am a Reiki Master Teacher. It is not strange that your daughter felt the energy flowing from a cat, infact all living things can send Reiki to other living beings, only thing is your own intention to receive it, and your sensitiveness to feel the inflow or outflow of energy. Early in the morning sit in a garden and meditate with the sounds of the birds , and you will see how your mood changes, it is only because you become too close to the source of reiki. Hug a tree, or walk on the green grass bare footed , see how refresh you become. Wear a crystal and receive its vibrations, infact everything is Reiki, Energy and Light, it is up to you how much you want to receive, and how much you feel close to it. Animals and especially our pet animals are the basic source of reiki therefore we love to keep them so close. Hope you understand that your daughter is very sensitive and feel the vibrations, and can identified them so.

Any can owner knows cats will "pump" which is they give you sort of a massage with their paws. This is actually an old reflex from when they were kittens to get the milk flowing in their mothers teets. They will do it when they are feeling especially cozy and safe.
Don't know if I would call it Reiki, but it may seem close!

Very interesting... first I've heard of it. Googling around, I found this article that may be of interest to you. A cat who's a reiki master. Not sure if I believe it, but I would like to see this cat myself out of curiosity.

I am a Reiki Master and I am not sure that cats can specifically give "reiki" but she could be feeling the cats energy which if good could feel like Reiki. How old is your daughter?

Yes, my cat has for me also. He has also done hara work (shiatsu). I am not surprised.
