I don't think there is any reason for anyone to choose something else besides turkey, other than trying to keep up with tradition.
We are having turkey this Christmas, not necessarily because of the holidays, but just because we like it, once in a while.

I will be having prime rib and for the white trash guests that will be attending there will also be a ham.
