I feel sorry for that guy, he had to move out of Chicago and is unable to attend Cubs games. Yahoo ran a story several years ago that he had even gone as far as to have reconstructive plastic surgery so people would leave him alone.

What date is this, December 21, 2003? I don't think Cubs fans really give it much thought anymore. I know I don't. The incident has become part of Cubs history, just as much as the black cat at Shea during the 1969 collapse and Steve Garvey homering off of Lee Smith and the ball that went through Leon Durham's legs in the 1984 NLCS. It sucks that it happened, but I don't think anyone is harassing Bartman anymore or would even think of doing it if they saw him walking down the street. And I doubt the guy who asked the question is a Cubs fan, or else he would know that it happened in the 8th inning of Game 6, not Game 5.
And kwb, the Cubs sucked long before Steve Bartman was born. If any Cubs fans blamed it on him at the time, it was just a knee-jerk reaction. If any Cubs fans still blame Bartman today, which I don't think very many if any at all do, then they really don't know much about baseball. And I wish that non-Cubs fans would stop assuming that all Cubs fans do all day is stick needles in their Bartman voodoo dolls and sacrifice a live goat in hopes of ending the media-fabricated curse of the billy goat. Most Cubs fans know that we haven't won in 100 years due to poor team management, both on the field and in the front office. But we Cubs fans always hope that those years are behind us and that this year will be the year.

Still being hassled by cubs fans that need to stop blaming their crappy team on him. It was already a damn foul ball! Any big league team would have kept their composure and got the next out. Instead, Prior goes out and gets lit up and then blows the game but lets still blame the guy that messed with the foul ball. Not the SS that couldn't field a routine ground ball.
I think it's ridiculous that this guy's life has been ruined by Cubs fans. He was a die hard Cubs fan. Hey Cub fans, stop blaming him and just admit your team sucks. Continue playing MLB 2k7 with the cubs because that's the closest they'll get to winning a World Series.
P.S. The thumbs down don't hurt my feelings.

I saw on ESPN that he still lives in Chicago and lives a relatively normal life and still roots for the Cubs.
I'm a Cubs fan and I just have to say this. The guy is a tool, plain and simple. I don't blame him completely but I do believe in the butterfly effect and the truth is that every event that happened after he deflected that ball wouldn't have happened. Don't get me wrong, they still might have mucked it up but we'll never know.
I love how people act like Cubs fans have no reason to be angry but when Jeffrey Maier did the SAME EXACT THING but instead of it hurting his team, it benefited it he was awarded the key to the New York City and became a hero yet we get criticized for hating this walkman-wearing moron.
You try being 5 outs away from the World Series and see how happy you'd be with him.

I'm doing pretty good, since "the incident" I have changed my name, moved to Idaho, and got plastic surgery. I adopted six cats. I spend my time drinking green tea and listening to Reel Big Fish. I work at the local grocery store.

Hopefully going about his daily life without recollection of that incident, just like you should do. I'm a Cubs fan and watching that killed me, but he is NOT the reason they lost that series, Alex Gonzalez's blowing the double play ball threw the momentum away from the Cubs in that game. And then they had Kerry Wood starting game 7, AT WRIGLEY, they should have won it, like you said, not Bartman's fault. So let's just forget about it.
