Ok so I've used tampons for ages now and everything's been absolutly fine but last month one leaked, not like all the way through my clothes, but it leaked. So I took it out - it had been in about an hour - and it wasn't fully soaked, not nearly(still plenty of white on show) So I'm wondering why I leaked, is it possible it came down the edge or something ? i wasnt heavier than usual so what went on???
It seems a bit of a silly question, I just want to know why because I'm a bit worried about this month incase it happens again?? Thanks

It's just one of those things that happen occasionally, use a panty liner like suggested and check frequently when heavy.

I think i read in the leaflet you get in the box its not safe to put it in until you start because there is now this toxic syndrome if you leave it in too long. I would try a more absorbant tampon this time just incase, you can get boxes with 3 different types depending on the flow.

If you're sure you werent having a heavier period I'd guess that it'd be just that time you put it in maybe not far enough? Or else when you were putting it in there was still residual left somewhere below the tampon that dripped out.

Sounds like you didn't have it in correctly.

And besides Toxic Shock Syndrome, using tampons before your period can cause irritation of the tissue because the extra lubrication is not there. Insertion and removal can cause scratching, redness, and itching which could lead to infection.

I always find the box of mixed ones are best - that way you can use a 'stronger' one when that happens. The panty liner thing is a great idea too.

I've noticed this too!
They dont seem to absorb very much it only gets absorbed on one side and then leaks out.

Maybe its something to do with the way theyre made cos i never used to get this

They used to be made in different absorbency's, I don't know whether they are still , but you might need a stronger one.

Try using the yellow ones, they are good for sunny periods.
