But why doesn't anyone else seem to be - if you are a bit patriotic you aren't a fascist you know.

I'm hesitant to claim I'm proud to be British, but I may realize what you mean. The WW1 and 2 generations done us proud, we have a rich history before that, unexceptable by modern standards maybe, but fascinating for all that. As for the countryside, and the countys, land and rivers, the very soil that feeds us, well it did when I grew up, all becomes part of what we are. I expect everybody thinks that of their own country so there's nothing wrong in that. Might be a lot wrong at the moment with the drinking and other bad behaviour but it's only those with a love of their country that will improve things, the detractors won't. Keep positive, Britain needs it.

I'm British, and I'm not particularly proud of the fact. For me, nationality is an accident of birth and I just happened to end up with a half-way decent passport.
Somethings about the UK make me cringe (e.g. following the USA into two armed conflicts which are clearly no-win conflicts). Other things astound me. Like how could Watford employ a footballer without a work permit?

Not British but I am proud of living in a country which such things as the Magna Carta, William Shakespeare, and the numerous other things you Brits gave us are part of our common cultural Heritage. A lack of love of your country is to my mind a sign of people who can't love their common humanity

I am British and proud.

Britian is great. I agree that it can be better though, and should be. Yes there are things about our past, and present that we should be ashamed of, but there are so many things to treasure and cherish. I love my country and am not ashamed to say it. But there is a difference between patriotic and being a racist. You do not have to be both, and it is those who are racist that give patriotism a bad name.

I'm proud to be British. We've lost our way in the past decades, but I believe a leader will emerge and take us back to the greatness we've lost.

Patriotism and pride should be individually managed. Most are not concerned about shouting these from roof tops. Better things to do with their precious time and energy.

It isn't that I'm not proud to be British, just that I'm not really proud to be human: As Oscar Wilde said, "I think that God, in creating man, overestimated his ability."

It is very difficult these days to be patriotic with the number of immigrants living in Britain and of course, it's getting worse.
I personally, live in England and I am even more proud to be English. I don't call myself British any more, I call myself English.
As you suggest, neither the 'politically correct' people nor even the government seem to like this any more. Even official forms now all say 'British' and never 'English'.
What have we come to?

Extremely proud to be British but sick at heart at what is being done to my beloved country. I also think it was very wrong to split the Union, united we stood divided we will fall.
