Then why don't they attack countries like Norway which is rich and in my opinion have more liberties. Lets not forget they are also much closer target.

Why does it seem that America has so many enemies while the rest of the world doesn't?

because, the real reason they hate us is because there is a Foreign Army in a Major Holy City of theyre Religion. They see us as occupiers and aggresors. In response to this they collabarated many co-ordinated attacks against us hear and abroad. The most notable of course being the 9-11 attacks.
In response to these attacks we went to war pre-emptively on the premise of Faulty intelligence. Men like Richard A Clarke( Head of Counter Terrorism prior to 9-11 and immediately after,Above All Enemies) and even his own Sec. of Treasury Paul Wolfowitz said There was no evidence of Iraqi state sponsored terrorism. Still Cheney and Bush would not stop talking about Iraq. We effectively confirmed the Fears of Many in the Middle East, that we are Aggressors and occupiers. We are currently constructing 14 military bases in Iraq. All the Dem. Frontrunners will allow the War to go on just long enough for these to be completed , maybe it will be Peacekeeping instead of "War" , once the bases are complete with the billions of dollars worth of embassies we are there. Period. End of Story. Its permanent then. Are permanence both theyre and in Saudi Arabia will be a great boost to the number of people that hate us. It will be an unending recruiting poster for millions of muslims for decades. I cant wait to see how they will spin it so the majority of americans do not realize what is going on. Maybe a few more Chandra Levy stories?

Also if you democratize countries with people that hate us that is going to reflect in the Regimes they elect. Hamas was Democratically elected. A country having the same type of Representatve system as us does not make them our freinds.

If we conquer to much in this area of the world how long before Russia and China start openly supporting our enemies?

Because we export our culture (music, movies, etc...) around the world, and the ideas expressed within this media directly goes against what they believe a moral society should indulge in. Norway isn't doing this, that's why we are a target. Norway also isn't the country going to the UN all the time insisting that other countries respect human rights, or to get sanctions placed against countries it disagrees with.

Aargh! I gave ryan d a thumbs up before I read his whole answer. Wish I could take it back. His kind of "patriotic", all balls and no brains, wild west, testosterone filled, b.s. is why the U.S. is hated not just by terrorists but by most of the world including most Americans. The time for military conquests is over. The U.S. could have gone a long way toward leading the world to a new era of international cooperation. Instead, the people calling the shots for our foreign and domestic policy are botched clones of John Wayne mixed with bond villains.

It is not a fallacy that the US of A has many enemies, it is simple fact that the US of A has its head so far up its own anus!

The US of A is generally despised by most of the worlds nations due to the shear arrogance, conceited attitude and general diatribe that is often emitted. Just read your own question!

Is the US really rich and free?

i dont feel rich or free?
But I do hate people on MTV's Celebrity Cribs when I see their 15 cars and a chair that cost as much to feed a family of 4 for 6 months.

Actually, almost every country in Europe has had terror attacks, from Russia to Italy to France. The problem is in the differences in religious beliefs. Religion has been cause of the rise of Al Queda, and it continues to this day, along with the burning resentment of support for Israel.

Fundamentalist Muslims believe in the concept of Mohamed as a warrior, battling infidels, taking as many with him as possible to gain glory in Heaven. The situation in Israel feeds this hatred and gives them incentive to continue their jihad against the western world and Europe. Because the U.S. is the primary supporter of Israel, they have focused much of their hatred in this direction.

We have also backed corrupt and wealthy Middle Eastern leaders who have kept their citizens locked into poverty. This, along with schools that teach the Koran and "Hate America" has provided many poor but religiously idealistic young men to join the Al Queda groups.

not ONLY because we're rich and free, but mostly it's cause we don't keep to ourselves. Yeah, norway is richer and probably more free (per capita) then us, but do you see Norway invading Iraq? Do you see Norway getting into business that have nothing to do with them? No, they leave everyone alone, and keep out of other people's beez-wax. We on the other hand, make every issue our issue, and try to police the world.. But you know what ??? Good! That's how it should be,.. Some one has to step up and run the show, and I'm glad it's us! We are (in my opinion) the best suited nation in the WORLD to take on this responsibilty, and you know what? America rocks, and you should be glad if you live here. Thank gosh I don't live in England, England drools and America Rules!

I'm guessing because we are an economically imperialist nation.

No terrorist has ever mentioned freedom as a reason for violence. This idea is propaganda in its purest form. Terrorism is based on political, military or economically-related agendas.

Yes, and they are jealous because we are a very young nation that has evolved so quickly. Their countries have been around for thousands of years and look where they are.

I am so sick of hearing people bash the U.S. We do more for other countries than anyone else, and all we get is crapped on for it.

Quite frankly, I don't care what other countries think about us. I know that we are a great nation of great people.
