Don't know if you can see it, but I'm sittin' a stock Sporty from many years ago. A century was never a problem. Now I have an FXDWG with all the goodies. The best parts are the hiway pegs on the case savers, and the Mustang tour seat. My butt only bothers me on the left cheek since that is where I carry my "biker" wallet. I'm sure you have seen them. The are about 7 - 8 inches long, and may as well be a ladies handbag for all the crap you can put in them. Has the chain with the medallion also. Big, heavy bastard.
I have progressive shocks on the FX. Less travel, but better foot plant. Looks good also. But the century does get to me. I have that every two weeks when I go to see the folks, and the butt does become a problem with that big *** wallet. I'd do without it, but since I wear all the "biker" crap to intimidate the local cagers, I can't do without my big 'ol wallet and chain.
And as far as "watering holes" go, I never do the bike thing unless I'm stone sober. Broke a leg 20 years ago on a Yammie. Sober. I can't even consider doing two wheels part way in the bag. Hard enough to keep up with cell phone using, make-up puttin' on, newspaper readin' hammerheads when you are in good shape.
It's not the bike, it's called old age. Unless you are passing out from a bit too much watering hole action, and your buddies are putting it in your pooper just for the hell of it. Take care, ride safe. Ciao!

We all know HD you don't have a bike but pretend you do. The ultimate poser. A short ride for me, after work just to relax is 90 miles. I have a stock "Jap Crap" seat on my bike and I don't even think about needing to get off the seat until I hit 200 miles.
Of course, it does bother me on the Iron Butt rides. (1000 miles in 24 hours.)

I have taken a few long rides on a Harley, as a passenger. And my butt did hurt by the end and the next day. I just think that it is due to not using those certain muscles in everyday life. Do you ride frequently?

90 miles is a long ride? Ha, that's a good one! The basic reason is the cruiser seating position. It puts all the weight on your butt with little ability to shift it around or move it to your feet. I had the same problem with the cruisers I've owned.
My average club ride these days is 250 to 300 miles over six to eight hours, lots of twisties, on my FJR1300. No way would I make it on a cruiser. I even put highway pegs on my bike and that helps a lot.
Do you know where the "stock" suspension parts on most Harleys come from? Didn't think so. One hint, you won't like it....

couple of questions:
what kind of seat do you have one now (solo or two-up)
what kind of bike do you have? (sporty, dyna, softail, VRSC, touring?)
I am not going to bash on you like some of the others have, each person rides at their own pace.
I ride about 70 miles to and from work (daily commute)
my weekend rides are anywhere from 200-300 miles
I ride a 2003 sporty and have two seats - my solo seat is the Brawler type seat - it's very comfortable for a daily ride.
My two-up is a Sundowner, I like it - my wife says that after the first 100 miles her butt goes numb, but that's a good excuse to pull off for a drink (non-alcoholic of course)

I never had a problem with my cruiser, as the small gas tank limited the time & distance between stops to around 100 miles, but after I got the BMW, I could easilly do 250-300 miles on one tank of gas, I was getting a bit saddle sore on long rides (750-1000 miles per day).
I went to Russell's Cycle Products ( http://www.day-long.com ) and had a seat custom made to fit my height and weight. Now the only reason to stop is when the wife needs to 'rest'

After replacing the stock seat on my Dyna with a Corbin, I've had no problems what so ever doing all day rides.

dear half dumb willie, it may not be the ride making you sore.
do you ever leave your drink unattended in these biker bars? do you ever notice your pants are on backwards when you get home?some of the patrons of this type of bar would rather hear a skinny boy fart than a pretty girl sing! don't tell the bald hard dong rider or crutch the mental cripple about this unless you want them begging to go riding with you all the time.

No mine never hurts after a hundred miles but I ride jap. My friends on harleys swear by Corbin and Mustang seats though {except James who rides a rigid knuckle with a JD tractor seat on it}. I think he has permenant nerve damage though !
