A lot of southerners do. I lived in NC for 5 yrs and most of them did the same thing. My friend is from Georgia and she does it. People from different areas speak slightly differently. Go to Massachusetts and see how differently they speak

It's just an accent thing. They are both southern. Quite frankly, it doesn't bother me nearly as much as GWB's persistent mispronounciaiton of "nuclear." It is not "NUK-U-LER."
