I bought my son an X-box 360 Halo Edition for christmas, however a guy here at work said he heard that you need an HD TV for it to play on. Is that true?
I have one in my front room but I know he's not going to want to play it in there and the one in his bedroom is not HD..

Also.. Is the a monthly charge to go on the internet to play against others with x-box 360 or is it just like going on-line with he's PS2.. Free!!

Thanks for the help... Happy Holidays..

?? They told me that the Halo edition had a wireless card build in so I wouldn't have to worry about the cables.. Like my daughters Wii does.. Is that not true?? That's why I got that one for him.

the Halo 3 edition comes with the HDMI port in the back but not a cable to use it with.

the AV cable the comes in the box has a switch on the base that goes between HDTV and TV, just make sure its on TV, when he is playing in his room.

there is an online free account called silver, but it just lets you download updates and message people

to play against other people you need to get a gold account, you get a 1 month trial when you make a silver account

gold accounts can be billed monthly, quarterly, or yearly using a credit card or you can go the the store and buy 1 month, 3 month or 1 year xbox live cards

the year card is the best deal

1year = $50
3month = $20
1month = $8

No, you do not have to have an HDTV to use it. Mine is hooked up to a regular non-hd television and it works just fine.

He can hook up to the Xbox Live service through your high speed internet connection (it comes with a 6' or so ethernet cable, if you want wireless the adapter for the 360 is about $100). The silver version of xbox live is free, which lets him download demos and other game content. To play online with his friends he will need a gold membership. You get 30 days of gold for free. After that it will be about $50 per year for a gold subscription (you can find subscription cards with the xbox accessories in your local electronics store if you don't want to give Microsoft your credit card number).

you can use any tv

xbox live costs 8.99 a month and u need a credit card to register that way, or for 59.99 you can buy a 12 month xbox live prepaid card and from the xbox menu go to join xbox live and enter in the code on the back of the card

if there is a wireless card in the Halo edition (i havent heard this before) you do not need any wires, but this is only if you have a wireless router somewhere in your house, if you dont you can purchase one at any big electronics store for aaround 39.99 and up depending on how far your connection needs to go, there is a wire that comes with the 360 that is approx. 12 feet and goes into the back of your modem, if you need a longer one they are not hard to find at all they can be found at almost any computer store but the further the cord needs to be the more it is going to cost you but dont worry they are fairly cheap.

Happy Holidays!

as long via fact the X-container has an HDMI output and the television has an HDMI enter, HDMI is the only cable you will prefer for video and audio. do no longer skimp on fee, the dearer ones are rather that quite extra desirable. decide what length you prefer, and go someplace respected to purchase the cable.

1. It works with any tv, no matter how small or bad!
2. Normal online is free, but you could allways go gold whitch gives more options and other goodies. Its only 10$ a month for gold!

You can use the regular tv.

And yes, you will have to pay for the XBox Live.
