The newer ones aren't supposed to have problems but only time will tell. The Xbox 360 has a 33% failure rate. Yup. 1 out of every 3 will break down at some point. I should know because I am on 360 #5!!!! They will never send you a new one either. If they cant fix your they will send you a refurbished one. This is part of the problem.

For people to tell you the new ones don't cause any problems is pure speculation. They dont know any better than the next guy. Microsoft allegedly put smaller hardware which was supposed to make the system run cooler. Well, this architecture is newly implemented and we wont know for 5-6 months whether or not the new hardware has the same issues as the old ones. It has cost Microsoft over 1 billion dollars to extend thier warranty out and fix the consoles for free. Thats the good news. If your 360 does break down Microsoft will fix it for free. but, you will be out of your system for a month and there is nothing you can do to get that $7.00 it cost you to not be using your Live account.

If you want a stable system go with a PS3 or even a wii. They have near a 0% failure rate unless users abuse the consoles. Even then the failure rate is around 5%.

Thye 360 is a great system but the bottom line is it was rushed out and its slapped together. Its a cheap console that will cost you a lot of money.

I think the PS3 is the better value anyway and I have all 3 consoles.

There is a 33% chance that an Xbox 360 will get hardware failure and that's very high. So far, I have seen very little 360 owners that haven't had the Red Ring of Death. I have even heard some people say that there Xbox 360's have died 4 or more times and that's just embarassing. Microsoft shouldn't even be selling them if their faulty in the first place.

I think that by the time the 3 year warranty period is up, Microsoft will release another Xbox console, or Xbox 360 owners will just have to pay for repairs. I heard one guy say that to pay for his repairs on the 360, it would cost him $100 dollars. I'm just glad I have my PS3. I can play games all day without overheating.

Only the old ones. Microsoft, who made the Xbox and Xbox 360, got a lot of headaches because of it and ensured that new models don't end up the same.

Xbox 360 Elite, the most expensive and latest version, rarely experiences problems so if you have one you don't have to worry much. Go to the Wikipedia topic shown in the sources below for more info about those Xbox 360 technical problems.

Yes, since the first system they have had a variety of problems. One of the worst was overheating. Your better off with a Sony.
