I'm thinking the Environmental Protection Agency but maybe you have a different one in mind...

You gave my answer. Under Bush, the EPA has done everything it can to ease environmental restrictions on industry, and has refused to assert it's authority to punish violators. Calling what it is now the Environmental Protection Agency reminds me of Orwell's 1984.

The FDA - inspections of our food and drugs, even dog food and toys, etc., have been negligent, if they exist at all! This agency waits until hundreds of people have died before they ban a drug.

The Immigration Department - these people must sit around their desks all day and twiddle their thumbs! Millions of expired visas, millions of Illegal Aliens crossing the border, student visas given to people who never cross the threshold of a college.

The FAA - I hope I have the right initials for this ignorant department, which employs Colin Powell's son, and levies huge fines on television stations for cusswords and sex scenes while ignoring faux news reports and false reporting of the news.

FEMA - people still living in trailers and scattered across the country. Both Rita and Katrina survivors left without help. Millions of bucks not accounted for, so much red tape that every decision is delayed throughout infinity, fake News Conferences where employees ask loaded questions so they can pretend to be efficient.

I think you can make a case for any and all of them....

by the way..me,too...it's the FCC that regulates the airwaves, the FAA is responsible for air traffic regulations and controls and investigates when a plane goes down.

and to the gentleman who stated it was the Department of Education and protest about the 'dumbing down' of our kids - might i suggest that you take responsibility for the problem because education starts at home - it's not always the teachers fault!

Because this Administration has primary dealt with a war for the majority of it's time in office, all other departments have been neglected and funded far less than what was necessary to make them viable departments. And with the Administration so busy with the war, and cronies operating as the heads of each of these departments - should you have expected anything less?

Department of Education

Since its inception our children have gotten steadily dumber while the cost of education has steadily risen. Good job guys, your intervention has led to us paying more for less.

Edit-
Becca, you're absolutely right! Since I don't have kids I'll go kidnap a couple and homeschool them, parents be damned! Check the stats, my dear. If you have a problem with me stating the facts then that isn't MY problem. Sheesh. Jumping to conclusions with no data to back it up, you must be a recent graduate of our public school systems!

Homeland Defense...

(for the life of me I still can't figure out how employees using Department funds to buy plasma televisions and computers and iPods and stuff to TAKE HOME WITH THEM has anything to do with "homeland defense.")
