There are a large number of people who feel that by serving the interests of the rich, you serve the interests of everyone. It is called Trickle Down Economics. If you give a rich person an extra dollar, he will invest it into something that will produce even more money and trickle onto all of us in the form of added jobs and added tax revenues.
That was why Ronald Reagan became president. History will determine if that was good or bad.

Wow that's an easy question. American WORKERS (who aren't brainwashed by unions) realise that every time Democrats talk about taxing the rich they are the ones who take it in the shorts. And American WORKERS know they have to work for what they get paid. And they know when someone gets paid someone has to do the paying.
They know There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. All the things Democrats promise have to be paid for by someone, somewhere, some time. And they generally don't want it to be them that does the paying.

There are still people with enough sense to realize it's not an "us-vs-them" issue. Dems are forever wanting to engage in some sort of ill-conceived class warfare. Helping the so-called "rich" helps all of us. First of all because many who the Dems regard as "rich" are in fact middle class. $50k/year does NOT make one rich, regardless of what the Dems seem to think. Second, because supply-side economics has been shown to work.

George Walker, that guy Phelps, who's the leader of Westboro Church is a registered Dem. He even ran under the Dem ticket.
Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15% of the vote in 1998.[34] In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31% of the vote [35] Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993 [36] and 1997. Because the Republican party does NOT only serve the interests of the rich.
That's such a bunch of BS that it takes a very inferior intellect to actually spew it or agree with it.

They're brainwashed and there's only two parties, not a lot of choice. If Al Capone was one of the candidates he would get 25% just by being on the ballot. A worker voting for a Republican is like a jew voting for Hitler.

Because the American worker loves the Republicans deregulating trade, so jobs can be sent to China.
Obviously, anyone who has ever lost a job to China, and has the intelligence to research how it is possible that it happens, realizes that Republicans are the enemy, regardless of what the people say who preach otherwise, in the pulpits.

Guns and abortion are the only two topics they vote for when they do support them. The false fear that somehow a Dem president will send troops into their homes and take their firearms is ridiculous.
Also, after SIX years of Bush, a GOP majority House and Senate, and a Bush Justice Dep, how has abortion been altered in this country? The false fears and false expectations of some people is astounding.
If the president simply focused on health, safety, and regulation, the nation would be better for it. All of these generic side-bar issues are a joke.

Their stances on abortion and religion intermingling with government gives them the Christian vote. Over the past 60 years (since President Truman) they have been very subtly playing the race card via means such as anti-entitlement programs for the impoverished - so they capture a lot of the angry white man vote.
