My trusty Epson Stylus RX500 all-in-one has develoiped an unfortunate sheet feeder problem. The paper goes in and starts printing, but one side soon gets stuck and bunches up.

Can this be fixed? If so, how do you suggest I go about it?

Should it be fixed? Is what I would need to do to get it running more trouble than it's worth?

Facts and opinions welcome. Thanks!

generally if its not a laser printer the general rule is, its not worth fitting. All-in-one are so inexpensive now of days, its just better to replace it.

I used to own the Epson C84 Stylus. A couple months after the initial warranty period I had a problem with the ink heads not printing, even after replacing with a new cartridge set. I called the Epson tech support line and told them that I knew I was past the warranty but wanted to know if they had any support options for me to try to fix it myself over the phone. I knew that sending it in for repair was not an option as just picking up a new printer would definitely be cheaper. The operator walked me through a few things and eventually said that they would send me a replacement free of charge, even though it was out of warranty. I ended up with the Epson C86 and after a period of time it too had print problems so I switched to an HP 4500. The main point I guess I'm trying to make is that you should try calling their support line to see what sort of free options they have for you. Remember that they have an interest in keeping you on their products as most of the money they make is from the ink, not the hardware. If you are happy with the device, then I'd recommend calling to see what they can do for you.

At the rate they charge these days for printers i.e. next to nothing, I'd buy new unless your VERY fond of the one you have.
My 6 year-old HP Deskjet finally failed about a month ago - I bought a far better inkjet for $50 brand new on eBay.
