Well it is December, and the pass is called Donnor Pass. I have made the trip from Lovelock, Nv to Fairfield, Ca many of times and would suggest snow tires or chains. It's really bad, at least until you hit Truckee. (thats when the roads are snowy or icy). go to www.nvroads.com www.ndot.com www.ktvn.com. These sites will tell you for sure how the pass to reno is.
