before i got pregnant i weighed about 230 pounds, now i am 20 weeks pregnant and i weigh 202.4 pounds. im not complaining that im losing weight because its great, but, losing this much weight this fast and still losing. i got an ultrasound done on wednesday and the baby is fine and everything else is fine, the uterus, the amniotic fluid, the placenta, everything is normal. but why would i be losing weight like this, i am kind of concerned about this but the doctor says i am just losing excess weight from my first baby and that everything is ok, there is no need to worry. but im still worried about it. does this sound normal? or am i just losing my mind along with my weight?

completely normal for a larger mom. i was at the same weight as you for my pregnancy and gained a total of 4 pounds during my pregnancy but when i walked out of the hospital after delivery i was almost 30 lighter!! i felt great--even after having a c-section. the trick is to keep it off- which i did not do. my sons father decided he did not want to do the daddy thing again and left us talk about a stress induced weight gain!!CHEESE CAKE HERE I COME!!

Since you were overweight before it's very possible to lose weight. If you have been trying to eat healthy chances are that you are losing it faster than the baby is gaining it. This happened to my mom when she had my younger brother.

You could also be losing it if you've had excessive morning sickness. I lost 12lbs in a period of about a week and a half from not being able to keep anything down.

If the doctor isn't concerned then you should be okay. Good luck and congrats!

no if everything is ok witht he baby enjoy it lol. i wish i'd loose some weight. i had my daughter last feb got pregnant right after that and when i found out i was 173 at my last appointment i was 195 which is good becuz thats what i was last time. i am hoping not to get over 200 but its doubtful. considering now its when the weight gain happens. i figure i'll be about 203 when i give birth.

with my second baby, I weighted 8 lbs more at delievery then at my delivery with my first baby. Although the weight is really hard to lose after the second, even with breastfeeding. I was only about 15 lbs over weight when I got pregnant again and gained about 40 lbs. Even with running around after a toddler i didnt lose any weight with my second pregnancy. Good luck.

You're fine. You're trading weight. Your body is burning the excess for the baby, and not gaining it back. As long as youre taking your prenatal you're fine.

YOu'll be glad for it when your pregnancy is over.

well to be perfectly frank you are overweight at any height, and you are not supposed to gain but a few (10-ish) when being overweight, You may platue out and gain 5-10 in your last trimester when the baby starts gaining 1/2 a week, but as long as dr says you are good, then you are good... heck igot yelled at cause ihave only gained 7 pounds and i am 25 weeks, but i am also average at 5'4 and 125 prepregnancy pounds. but what i wouldnt give to be losing... :) enjoy it, stay healthy and have a healthy baby!

Sounds strange. Maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor just to be on the safe side. I've never heard of it being ok to lose weight during pregnancy, then again, I'm no expert (smile). Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Probably you are eating healthier now that you are pregnant, which is in turn taking some weight off. If the doc says you and baby are both fine, I say smile about the weight loss and the baby. Congratulations on both!

Don't worry. I lost 10-20 pounds during pregnancy. Bodies do wierd things. As long as your doctor isn't concerned, don't worry about it.
