I know losing is never a thing any NFL team wants to experience, but in the case of the Patriots does anyone think that losing a game before the playoffs could actually be good thing. I know they are already faced with alot of pressure but they will be face with even more pressure of being undefeated in the playoffs. What team wants to go 16-0 and then lose their first game in the playoffs. I know, I know, what teams wants to go 8-8 and lose in the playoffs but I just simply saying that maybe if they happened to lose a game before the playoffs, that that could be one of the best things to happen to the PATS, honestly. Like i said earlier, losing is never never something a team wants to experience but in the case of the Patriots, could losing a game benefit them in the long run?

I agree that there is already a ton of pressure on the Pats but to think that the pressure would be the same if they were 16-0 compared to 15-1 is not being realistic.

Yeah, actually. Then they would only be focused on winning the Super Bowl.

I think going 16-0 and then losing your first game in the playoffs would be totally embarassing. But in my opinion it is very likely to happen. Losing 1 game in the regular season wouldn't be the end of the world for them and in a sense it might shed some of the added pressure and help them focus on winning the Superbowl. I am not surprized at the success the Patriots are having, I knew they were going to be a great football team with the addition of Randy Moss but I never thought they would be 14-0. One things for sure if Brady or Moss get hurt it's goodbye Patriots. Especially if Brady gets injured. What's the name of your backup?

Generally speaking the principles you bring up are right, but this really is a different team. They haven't had a serious letdown, though they've had some trouble with different defensive schemes thrown at them. I think this is because of Belichick's preparation style.

So I think it goes the other way this time. I think staying undefeated is more motivation than pressure for this particular team. This is what is so great about this team, and why it actually has a shot to go all the way. They certainly could fail, but they have a shot.

As a loyal Patriots fan I personally would love to see them erase the Fish's record of number of wins in a season, but based on the way they have played in the last 4 games they seem a bit flat and a loss might shake them up and motivate them a bit more, or it could just be that they are playing as hard as ever but the competition is better now having had time to study the Pats as the season has progressed.
The fact is that every team regardless of record possesses incredibly talented men. No one gets to play in the NFL as a starter because they suck at football.

I know what you are trying to say...and the Pats have not been as dominant in the past few weeks than earlier in the season...but this is the Pats...

The key idea here is that they have found a way to win EVERY game so far...Great teams do that...They'll be fine, and besides...Belichick IS going for the undefeated record...He wants to stick it to the NFL for spygate...The starters will be playing to the end...I wouldn't want them to be rusty in the playoffs...Obviously, being rusty in the playoffs is not a good thing, because you win or else...

I don't think it will make a difference. I really think that once the playoffs start they'll have the same amount of pressure regardless of whether they finish the season at 16-0, 15-1, or 14-2.

I dont think it changes the pressure, there is pressure to perform in the playoffs regardless of what you did in the regular season. I dont think it matters if they lose a game or not now that home field is locked up.

Between the sheer amount of playoff experience the Pats have and the singlemindedness of their coach to prepare for the next game I don't think the pressure will bother them.

The Pats don't play like that. Brady is too much of a competitor to sit out the last two games for no reason. That's what makes him a winner, he doesn't ever give an inch.
