I have thought about putting this question out for weeks, see what you think.

I could never understand why he was ever a suspect, but now I'm glad he is.

Think about these. He was over in the UK just days before the McCanns visited Portugal. He was possibly only a very short distance from them, and they may even have had common friends.

Over the months we have heard stories over a man seen lurking in the bushes, although not resembling Murat.

Murat's girlfriend apparently knocked on an appartment door nearby wanting to discuss her faith, but showed interest in a young girl in there. This was according to her mother.

Months ago I read an article about some DNA evidence of Madeleine in Murat's villa. How on earth did it get there?

We might all agree that paedophiles will work in teams and be cunning. Perhaps Murat was not the guy who actually lifted her. Perhaps he wasn't!

This is all circumstancial, but doesn't it get you wondering about him?

I think some on here may have missed the point of the question. With very circumstantial information, all I am asking is whether other people are wondering about Murat the same as myself. Is that so difficult to grasp?

By the way, the abuse from a few people is childish and unnecessary.

And yes, I will enjoy Christmas, in fact already.

Michael W and I both have been suspicious of him from the beginning.

Murats DNA would not raise any questions in the apartment since he just happen to be nearby and volunteered to be an interpreter. that in itself is weird. Why would the police trust a civilian to translate?

Have you seen the movie "Psycho"? Robert Murat and his Mother remind me of that movie for some reason.

Murat has a daughter who is the same age as Maddy. Friends of Murat have commented how much she looks like Maddy. Her mother has custody of her. But does anyone know where the child's passport is?

Yes, all that you've offered is so cirsumstancial as to be almost useless. Opportunity isn't enough.
I believe and trust the Portuguese equivalent of the British CID or the USA's FBI --- the PJ-GNR They are not a ONE man team. They are a professional team of forensic scientist and top police officers. If they say that they believe strongly that the McCanns caused the (accidental) death of their daughter, I believe them.
YOU say DNA was found in Murat's house. What about the mountains of forensic evidence found inside the car they hired TWENTY FIVE days after the girl disappeared. How can you possible explain away that evidence and also where it was found ?! Any police investigative team in England would have arrested them on the spot and without bail anyone with evidence against them as damning that !!
Remember that inability to convict does not mean the person is innocent. Police gut feeling is not enough to convict in a court of law but it is more than enough for a population to despise the suspects. That is what I believe is already and JUSTLY happening to the McCanns !!

happy Murcia this finished saga is lots from over yet. There are nevertheless fairly some questions unanswered and we do no longer be attentive to what's relatively happening at the back of scenes. there has been fairly some twists and turns and that i wager there are much greater to return. something has no longer been top considering that day one. i can't help thinking there is greater to all this then meets the attention. I do sense Robert Murat grow to be made a scapegoat to conceal their very own tracks and that i wish he's cleared quickly. i wish justice is finished for Madeleine quickly. This seems to be dragging on and on.

I've thought about this for months, but apparently the blobby policeman relied on Murat to translate for him with the McCann family! Blobby was removed for reasons of total and abysmal incompetence and has since been replaced with not much that is different. I can bet safely that there aren't any questions like this being posted in Portugal tonight - it is all such a major embarassment to them, they would rather forget all about it. We have friends who winter in Praia and they say there is absolutely no mention of that little girl or the case by the locals, only the Brits and Germans.

hmm I have friends who are 'locals' in PDL, and in other parts of the Algarve, and they say they discuss 'the case' between themselves not to extended holidaymakers.. they are peed off at their country and their police being slagged off, ...it is not them that went on the piss and left babies alone and defenceless.. !!!!

and I agree (again) with red chrome, I find it a bit more suspicious that the McCanns rental car had Madeleines DNA all over it... don't buy the dirty nappies theory, and if any of you have actually been to Portugal you will know why I dismiss this pathetic 'excuse'!!!!! x

Yes I agree with you he seems very dodgy, what about him using his mobile in the hour she went missing to phone up that Young Russian guy who lived near him, he was supposed to be in with his mother. I do not trust him at all but the McCans were so foolish.

Yes. The police made him a suspect for a reason!

I have been wondering about him for a long time now.His mother has been on TV giving him an alibi and everyone believed her,but when Madeleines grandmother (Kates mum) was on TV saying that no way did her daughter hurt Madeleine people were saying "Oh she would stick up for her daughter wouldnt she"? Well the same goes for Murats mother,of course she would stick up for him.
I dont know about DNA in his villa,Im guessing that came from the Daily Star or some other tabloid so I wont believe that.

If you consider all the lies, from all corners, which have been dished out,it's not surprising that Murat is a suspect. I'm not convinced that he's guilty of anything but my gut feeling is,the McCanns are......................
