The passiveness of the strict non-interventionist system is something that makes me doubt their consciousness.

There, used them both.

Consciousness refers to someone being awake or aware. When it is used to speak of a creature, its consciousness is whether or not it is aware of what is going on.

I'm not sure which words you mean, so I'll use the most likely.
The word exteriorization has hitherto been absent from my consciousness; but with my usual passiveness, I will accept that it really is a word and means something like "thinking outside the box."
