How do I get the graphics on Age of Empires 3 and all my games to the full?

I have the game aoe3 and the graphics aren't that good on it. eg. the smoke coming out of the chimneys are square blocks, and fountains shoot out square blocks of water. My computer is a gaming one with state-of-the-art graphics card, but it only has 512mb RAM.
If I get another 512mb RAM will it make a difference or will I need more.

Also, what would be the best amount of RAM so I could play all my games with the graphics up to the full? (eg. 'the sims 2', 'the godfather', simcity societies', etc.)

You certainly don't have enough RAM, that is correct. 1 GB is pretty well required with games today (minimum system requirements are just that - "minimum"); 2 GB would be even better.
