I have partial placenta previa at 26 weeks with my first baby, and while my doctor told me it will probably fix itself, I have been researching it. If it doesn't, I may need a C-section.

I've noticed that a lot of people on Answers have asked questions about how to get rid of stomach pooch/flab after having a C-section. It seems like your stomach never goes back the way it would if you had a vaginal delivery.

I hate to be worrying about this, but I can't help it because my flat tummy was my favourite/most complimented body part before pregnancy, and while I don't expect it to go back to normal, I would still like to look good. I don't mind a scar but I will cry if I have a pooch and that's a fact. I'm 22. This might sound shallow to some and my first priority *is* a healthy baby, BUT!

So... I was wondering if anybody had a C-section and DIDN'T have a pooch/ bad flab? Did anyone's tummy go *almost* back to how it was? And if so, how?

I appreciate any answers!!!

I know a lot of Doctors don't approve of doing it, but you can get a tummy tuck before they sew you back up

I think all women who have a c-section end up with a "pooch". The pooch is not necessarily extra flab or fat buildup, but is caused from scar tissue. And, no amount of exercise or dieting can get rid of scar tissue. I've had two c-sections, and although I was down to a size 4, and very toned one year after my second section, I still had the "pooch" Good Luck!

In most cases a c-section is like a vaginal delivery. You will still have to let your skin and uterus go back to their normal size, as they both stretch consideralby during pregnancy. This doesn't happen overnight.

Other than that you can go back to excercising and eating healthy, but it is still going to take alot of work to get back to the way you were before. For even the hardest working of women it takes around 4 to 6 months minimum. Even then it will never be quite the same. The one thing that you have going against you with a c-section is that recovery time is longer and you wont get to get up and active for a little bit longer. Even when you do get up and around your stamina will probably be severly decreased because that baby is going to wear you out.

I say just take it slow and enjoy that time with your baby. Those early days go by so quick! You will have plenty of time to get back into shape. No one is going to think any less of you because you don't automatically get back to pre-pregnancy weight. Good luck and congrats on your new little one.

Because they have to cut through the abdominal muscles...things will not be the same as vaginal recovery. Cutting these muscles unfortunately causes the pooch and the only way to get rid of it is cosmetic surgery...everyone I know that has had a c-section has this, my mom got hers fixed but now has and additional scar. I too am worried about having to have a c-section! I mean mine wouldn't be for the same reason...my baby was breech at my last US not too long ago. I dread the surgery and recovery...not to mention my body will not look the same and I am looking so forward to excersising my butt off to look good for my hubby. But hey, whatever gets my little girl safely in my arms is ok...I just prefer a vaginal delivery so I know how you feel! When I had my first.... I was back to my pre-pregnancy figure in a week, I can only pray that happens this time!

well i am not very sure about the stomach pouch but i also had placenta pervia around 27 weeks. I went back 2 weeks later for a nother ultra sound and it had moved. There is a very good chance that they move so i would not get all worked up about it. You will most likely never have the SAME body as before but just look at what you will have to show for it

hahaha. i had an emergency classical c-section at 26 weeks. which means not only do i have "stomach pooch", but i also have a 14 in. scar from my belly button down to my pubic area. the scar is lopsided, because it was an emergency, and my "pooch" looks like an upside down heart. i think it's ugly, and gross. but at the same time, i don't care, that's where my baby came from! only thing i can say is do lots of exercising after recovery! and don't be so shallow, it's not always about looks. and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Women get pooches whether they have a C-Section or not. Having children is what causes them, not vaginal or other deliveries.
The only thing I can suggest is that some doctors are willing to do a tummy tuck either at the time of the C-Section or afterwards. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks.

my son is 3 months and i still have mine... so i also had a partial placenta previa. It will take time to go back to normal but i am sure it. I felt the same way as you did and also worried about the strech marks my tummy was nice also but i think you really wont care that much as soon as you hold your baby...
