I live in Texas and they just bumped minimum wage up (after about seven years or more) from a little over 5 per hour to around 6 something per hour. Whoopee. How do they expect anyone to live on this kind of wage. I would find it hard to live on 8 or 9 per hour and I don't live extravagantly.

$5.50 and this is in Arizona. Yes, you would have to bust your butt trying to live on this.

The minimum wage rate in the State of Louisiana, is $5.50 an hour. The Federal Minimum Wage rate is $5.15 an hour.
Really stinks if ya ask me!!

The minimum wage in my country the U.K. for people aged 22 or older is 5.52 which works out as $11.15. This would be completely impossible to live on for most people, a more realistic amount would be about $25.00 to live on in the U.K.

Federal minimum wage is UNIVERSAL throughout the U.S. At the present time it is $ 5.85/hr. to be increased to $6.55 in July of '08, and to $7.25 in July of '09. You employer can pay you anything he wants surpassing the minimum wage, even $5000/hr,if he wants to.

It's 7.50/hr in Illinois. That's still way too low. With our cost of living, minimum wage should be at least 10/hr.

If they are lazy enough to drop out of school, and work a entry level job for the rest of thier lives, they desirve the minimum wage.
