The Full Moon in Cancer conjunct Mars and opposing Jupiter on Christmas Eve (December 24) brings the old emotional issues to a head, promising a resolution, though hopefully not through violence, as the aspects on Christmas Day are much more promising

Isn't it funny that christmas is supposed to be a christian adaptation of the winter solstice celebration? The sun tonight goes in capricorn (winter solstice yee haa), so christmas could basically be a celebration for capricorns and reindeers alike.

A full moon signals opposition between the sun sign and the moon sign. Cancer is a reference for support, delicious food, care, generosity and smooth talk, while its opposed sign capricorn, is apparently related to torch bearers and downright cheap, directing and hard on the mat individuals. If the zodiac was built like a water mill, cancer would be the raging flow of a source, and capricorn the magnet changing a force into electricity to turn my PC on among other things. There you get the crab hidden in the water, and the goat at the top of a mountain doing like Ben Franklin with his kite.

Ok now, what can we say about the moon? First its proximity allows the tides to happen and some inhabitants of the woods to get an idea of which time of the year/month they are in. The moon probably stands for instincts and protection. Its run around the earth is quicker than that of any big ball known by the casual astrologer, and this leads to quicker changes of angles, with again less chewed up decisions and reactions.

The sun is rather a superstar among the orbs. He is in full strenght and the actual lord of the pit, perhaps because of his younger age and the heritage he got from other planets like Saturn and Pluto (which might have been bigger in a remote time --> possible remains scattered around saturn). Therefore the sun is a standard to beat. Mr Big, Mr Know it All, or perhaps Ms do it all. The Sun siphons a lot of hydrogen and shines in the middle of the family with Venus and Mercury doing his education.

When Moon in cancer meets Sun in capricorn, we apparently have a direct way up from our instincts (the moon) to a quest of identity (the sun), and from home (cancer) to the top of a mountain (capricorn). The sun's energy alternatively has much to do with conquests, hence surprise love relationships i guess, with oblivion on one side and a victorious pride on the other. But Sun in Capricorn is for prestige and jobs, not slot machines, so maybe we should expect promotions of some sort, and cheek-to-cheeks with the uncles or grandmas for christmas. As a matter of fact we usually receive gifts, food and money during the month of capricorns, and a possible reason behind such a happy ending, is that the sun belches in capricorn no matter which year christmas is celebrated in.

On the other hand Moon in cancer makes me ponder about delicious food, angry lobsters, warm fireplaces and big melons. But what does "sun in capricorn" means, in any way, during the day of christmas? In a nutshell the earth spins on itself, and the other planets do not follow. Is the Sun still "in capricorn" after one half of a day? ....From my point of view it's only there at the first hour of the day, as it moves already towards the next country after a minute or two. When the sun sends its rays through the crust of mama earth and galvanises us from the bottom of our feet to the top of our heads, this is Midnight. Similarly when the sun is far in the south and shines from the south Pole to the north, i mean from the Milk Reservoir to the Horn, a winter solstice happens ---> tonight is the longest in the north hemisphere, or the midnight of days. Therefore we have a relationship between midnight, capricorns, full moon in cancer before christnas, and the winter solstice.

We too have 12 signs for 24 hours, and capricorn could only be the 'real' sign of christmas until 2am and a few minutes (reason: that hour is offset by a few degrees each day until the 30th. Afterwards, midnight would mean Aquarius :)

Happy solstice, Happy midnight and Happy christmas hohoho!

Christmas Eve part of it makes no difference. It would have been more powerful on the 21st actually. But overall full moon in Cancer signifies a good time to begin some new phase of life, to follow one's dreams. Start a business on a shoestring, take a chance on a new career, that kind of thing.

Astrologically, there is a lot going on around Christmas this year!

We have full moon in Cancer, the Sun joins Jupiter in Capricorn as it opposes the Moon in Cancer, conjoined with Mars retrograde. When the Sun joins with Jupiter, it is energized by its own passage over the Galactic Center on December 18th, and its conjunction with Pluto on December 20th, as well as the energy of the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction from December 11th. It can make us feel expansive, curious, wise and powerful – so remember to keep the egos reined in! This Solstice/Full Moon energy sets the tone for the next three months, so be prepared to be concerned with how you can achieve your life purpose at this moment of history. Are you here to change the world? You bet you are!

The Moon points to the way in which we can achieve our goals. Through Cancer, we have to align with our feelings, give birth to our souls, and nurture our children (concrete or creative). This full moon asks us to think about how we protect and defend (Mars R) Cancer issues: Mother, the family, and how we nurture self, others, our creativity, our feelings - the living loving aspects of life.
