I just read in the paper that a close friend was fired yesterday . . . a week before Christmas. I know they are a little strapped for money so I am sure this is a stressful time for them. I would like to send money to them but I am concerned with stepping on anyone's toes. I'm younger and I have the upmost respect for them. Can you please help with the a letter saying that I hope this helps with their mortgage and other neccessary expenses. I'm planning to send $5000. Do I send it to the wife and not the husband? Men can be funny about that type of thing. I don't want to hurt his pride, like it hasn't been hurt enough. I just want to say that I think the world of them and I wanted to ease some of the burden during this difficult time. I want them to know that no one else needs to know about this and they never have to worry about repaying me. I feel sick to my stomach that this has happened to such amazing people. Please help with putting this on paper!

You can send it "anonymously" - simply say, "Something for your time of need."

You sound like an amazing person yourself. Your friends are so lucky to have a friend that cares about them as much as you do.

I agree with you about "men and them getting their pride hurt," however, since it is Christmas time you could simply make it a gift and that it comes from your heart. You could mention that this is something you've been brought to do for them and that you appreciate both their friendships and want to give in their time of need. Followed by, "Oh did I mention, it's a gift."

I think by you just expressing yourself verbally to them that you won't be hurting his feelings and coming across in a compelling, yet humbling way to them both.

You must be their "Angel"..... God Bless You!

Knowing my daughter was strapped for cash I gave her £5000. followed by a further £1000. Nearly all from my life's savings.
She has since cut herself off from me saying she doesn't want anything more to do with me.
Be careful how you help people, even relations.

Don't put your name on it. Just send the cash/check and say "Merry Christmas."

Just write "A gift from a loving friend" and don't sign it.
