I know some people here tease another by saying they do, just wondering what percentage of folks here actually DO live in a trailer park.

I've lived in a trailer, but not in a trailer park

We live in a condo but have lots of friends who do live in a trailer park. There are a few about an hour from here. Some look pretty nice but a few have been closed down. I wouldn't want to live in one. The reason, most are hours away from Dr. and hospitals. At least where these are. Some are really nice places, it depends who it is that keeps them up. Our niece and nephew own one and real nice. Wouldn't mind living there as it is close to everything and well kept!! 5 hours away from us though.

I visited a trailer park for the first time last summer. A friend of mine has a nice 2-bedroom, 2-bath trailer home on a slab. Very nice. I spent two nights. But when we went out to walk one woman was walking two huge pit bulls, a doberman, and some unknown large scary looking breed and none were on a leash. They ran straight for me and I'm afraid of dogs. She just laughed. The rules say you can't have a dog out unless it's on a leash, but no one there pays any attention to ANY of the rules. There were roofed pavilions stuffed full of all kinds of junk like old motors, tires, car parts, whatever -- lots of rusted crap. There were mobile homes abandoned because they had been condemned as unsafe. Others that appeared just as unsafe were occupied by large families. Teenage kids rode motorcycles up and down the streets at all hours. People had dogs tied up under their trailers with no water, no food, in the middle of Texas summer.

But my friend's mobile home and a few others were just fine. Several older couples were putting new siding on theirs, repainting. Seemed like a diverse community. Many men there had on tank tops, long greasy hair, and dirty jeans. Many women were obese. Some looked retarded or drug-addled. Many more of these people than I would see in a regular neighborhood or apartment complex. I instantly thought about writing a series of murder mysteries set in such a trailer park.

I don't live in a trailer park....never seen one but I was born and raised in a slum in Africa which makes the American projects look like 1st class living!

No but I may as well have in the beachfront community I was in two years ago, full of hells angels. It was scary. I even had an escaped prisoner living behind our house for three months without anyone knowing about it.
