Will there be a certain reaction when Mentos and Coke are taken?

Me and my friends bought Mentos and Coke, but they said that they got news that someone died when these two were taken. And they said that there will be a reaction when any mint is taken with acid. I wonder if this is true.

There is a reaction when Mentos are added to carbonated beverages. You can get some pretty high plumes of Coke foam gushing out of the bottle after adding a Mentos mint. The surface area of the Mentos allows the carbon dioxide in the Coke to release very rapidly.

You might be able to create a huge belch, but it is pure Urban Legend on the death part, unless you are also jumping off a building as you eat the Mentos.

While it's true that menthos and cola will create a sudden and dramatic reaction, it's a false urban legend that it's actually killed anybody. At worst, it appears that the combination will cause a person to regurgitate the cola foam...so they might be pretty uncomfortable for a while and look like they have rabies, but it's not known to be fatal.

Incidentally, the effect can be seen with any sort of carbonated cola, not just Diet Coke. (Although from personal experience Diet Coke does seem to be far more carbonated, so maybe the effect is more dramatic with it.)

I've heard that it's mentos and DIET coke. I have seen Diet Coke 2 liter bottles blast off like rockets, even over houses. I think this is a hoax, but I definitely wouldn't try ingesting it. If it isn't a hoax you probably would die.

The mythbusters on Tv did this experiment. it's a synergistic effect of the co2 and the spot holess on the candy creating nucleation -an explosive release of carbon dioxide all at the once.
