I love books. I love to use books to decorate. They are beautiful. I love to read but find that I do not have the time and even though I have new glasses I have a problem with focusing. If I read for very long everything far away will be blurry. This is typical of older Fibromyalgics. I have several books that I plan on reading some day. I have several that I have read and I dont' like to let them out of my possession. If I could afford it I would have an enormous library just full of books. My youngest son (a philosophy major) has a lot of books. My oldest son (history major) has even more. He has a love affair with books.

Here is one of my favorite quotes by Carl Sagan:
''Books are like seeds that can lay dormant for centuries but they may also produce flowers in the most unpromising soil''.

Read the definition below. Yeah I know its only wikipedia but it will do.

That definition is me!!! I just love my books, I collect books, I read books, I like to just sit there and look at them on the book shelves. I like the way they look and smell and feel. How can the human race do without them. BETTER than this electronic stuff anyday of the week.
They are little treasure chests to me full of amazing wonderous things.

I had better shut up now this is beginning to sound a tad obsessive!!!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bookworm, 1850, by Carl Spitzweg.Bibliophilia is the love of books. Accordingly a bibliophile loves books, but especially "for qualities of format". A bookworm loves books for their content, or otherwise loves reading in general. Bibliophilia is generally considered to be incorrect, but some would say it is a new, recent, usage. The practice of loving or collecting books is dubbed bibliophilism, and the adjective form of the term is bibliophilic. Also, a bibliophile may be a book collector.

EDIT: You do now Pat

Well, I guess that I'd qualify as a bibliophile. I have tons of books. When I begin to experience a period of ennui, I always find that a bit of ol' Henry James perks me right up.... but....being that I am also a mendicant, I have to limit my book buying to "Sally's" (the Salvation Army) or "GW's" (The Goodwill.)

Is this someone who loves books then I am guilty! Love to read and always have but Fibro causes eyes to blur is read too long. Still it is wonderful. Books, pictures of kids and life, ART and music are my favorite things. So obviously I have a lot of how to books as well as novels and such.

I can't pass a bookstore, esp a used book store, and I can't leave with out some books. My shelves are crammed, I keep having to build more because I keep buying books I don't want to part with, and I keep looking for more. Does that make me a bibliomaniac, or just obsessed?
And I read them all!

If I had more time to read I'd be called one...but have read less and less since the internet...now I have passed that trait on to my kids/grands; particularly my eldest and her boys...they are running out of room for their many books and are ALWAYS reading.

I am guilty! Love reading and all books. Books are my friends. If it were up to me I'd have wall to ceiling bookshelves in every room.

Yes! My sister is one of those, but I still love her. lol
When she moved to Chicago she had to leave most of her collection at our parents house, but she always brings a few back home with her when she visits.
