Diane's Husband Answering:

I think that the whole terminology of Prolife and Prochoice is itself too simplistic to a very difficult problem.

Is Abortion taking a life? There are semantics on when life begins. I believe that the termination of a being that could be viable outside of the womb is taking a life, therefore I think that abortion should be limited to the first 5 months of a pregnancy.

Is abortion in any form wrong, maybe, but then I as a man have to way the right for women to have access to safe abortions against a world where abortion is illegal and the potential repercussions of that scenario.

The other issue that troubles me about this issue is the one of adequate healthcare, health education, sex education, and access to contraceptives. Many of those who are the most vocal in the Prolife camp are also vehement opponents of all of these measures, and seemingly would rather have a world where young women and teens are ignorant of sex, their bodies, and have little or no access to adequate healthcare.

These people also like to promote the idea that every unwanted child can be placed in a loving home. The reality even in America and other developed countries is that millions of Children get passed from group home to foster homes, many are unloved, neglected, and many are abused. Its not a proud fact but it is a fact.

I would love to live in a World where Abortions did not happen but I believe to make that happen, we will have to first start by addressing ignorance, poverty, healthcare, and our ability to properly care for those children who are unwanted by their birth parents.

Until such time that an answer can be provided to these many facets of this issue I am in favor of allowing a woman to make this very difficult decision without my interference or the goverments.
