Apart from the Bible, I'd have to say--don't laugh--a Classics Illustrated comic book on Joan of Arc. I about wore that out in the summer of 1963, and it sparked a lifelong love of history in general and a passion for the medieval period in particular.

these bokks inspired me a lot. i used to be a negative thinker but after reading these books, especially the chicken soup for the soul, it really helped me change & appreciate life more.
