I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 1520. At home I prefer to connect it to my external monitor LG Flatron ez T713SH (not LCD), like I used to do with my previous notebook. But with the new Dell, the external monitor is flickering and I can't look at it more than 5 minutes. I tried all setting combinations, installing and uninstalling drivers... but nothing... same result. With my old notebook it worked great (Acer Travelmate 420). Any idea before I must give up my beloved 17'' Flatron?

I tried higher refresh rates but the monitor says "Out of range". Very strange since it worked on higher refresh rates with the other notebook.

You need to set the refresh rate to at least 75 Hz. 85 Hz is preferable.

If you get an out of range message then you need to reduce the screen resolution. You should be able to get 1024 by 768 at 85 Hz.

Did you try different refresh rates in the advanced graphic properties. Try raising the refresh rate.

what they said or it could be a bad VGA cable or DVI cable, good thing these are cheap to replace, also if your not tech savy VGA/DVI is the cable you use to connect your laptop to your monitor.
