I dont know whether to join them or not...they keep inviting me too everytime I see someone.
But I really dont want to go. I just fancy some peace and quiet at my desk until 3PM.
How do I refuse without offending them?
They are nice people.

What you could do is a compromise.
Join them for a while saying that you do have something to do before you finish work. You may find that you enjoy it, on the other hand if you don't enjoy it they can't be offended if you return back to work as your excuse is already sorted.
Its better than not going at all.

Just go, and stay for a few minutes and then say oh I'll be back in a second because I promised that I would phone someone back!

Usually the events you dont look forward to are usually the best!...Just go for an hour...that'll give you enough time to decide whether to stay or not!
