The reason people get jobs because they are women or minority is because otherwise they would be turned down.

White people always say "People should get hired for jobs based on skills and not there race etc..."

I agree... but we all know this is not how it works. If you bring in a white male with the same skills as a woman or minority... the white male will usually get the job! Without affirmative action... minorities will be oppressed even more because racist people will not give them a chance. They will just hire their white friends for jobs who have equal or LESS still level than the minorities!

This still goes on now. Yes its wrong that some white people may get turned way from this law.. but in the end.. they still have an advantage compared to others.

Why don't people see this?

Yes, we do.

However, just because the racism of affirmative action is a reponse to widespread racism, that does not make it right.

I know you probably don't really give a rat's *ss here but I'm a white male who has the disadvantage of being disabled. I know that it may be shocking to some but not all white males has the "advantage" of being a white male.

You got many white males that are wheelchair bound and has the disadvantage of being unable to walk. Then their are some white males that are blind and has the disadvantage of not being able to see. There are also some white males who has other disabilities such as missing limbs, being deaf, having autism, just to name some of the disabilities that hinder people in all walks of life from obtaining the same opportunities that the "normal" people has.

Do you honestly think that being a white male will help if this white male is disabled? If you truly think that employers will overlook a person's disability in favor of their race or gender you need to go visit the state rehabilitation center for the disabled ASAP just so you can see what the disabled has to endure on a daily basis.

not true all the time. some guy who was white sent in an application to Harvard Law School and did not get in. He then sent the same exact information, but put that he was black and then he got into Harvard...

crazy....but minorities sometimes get the good life too.

Affirmative action IS racist and sexist.It is one of the most despicable things that has ever been imposed on society.Would you want to go to a doctor who otherwise couldn't get into medical school except for his race?Not me.I want a doctor who is a doctor due to his or her brains.

You are right. It is so obvious but willful blindness still exists and unless someone is part of a minority they can never understand the life long struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, religious intolerance etc...

While what you say has a small bit of truth, it is clearly not true in the majority of cases. Most medium to large businesses are very multicultural and well mixed in terms of sex, race and other distinctions.

are you stupid go read a book moron. everybody that has read past history knows that blacks get jobs over whites just because their black. go watch american history x itll show you on how blacks get jobs just because their black quit hating white people because their better than you go to college and get a job loser.
