If you're screaming in space, it probably doesn't matter whether anyone can hear you. The scream is probably an indication of a rapidly approaching death that no one will be able to prevent. Astronauts are generally picked for having stable personalities (except the diaper wearing ones out to harm romantic rivals). They wouldn't scream in the other situations where screaming normally occurs here on Earth...surprise, fright, anger, grief, and Japanese-loud-voice-contests.

BUT....if you're in a space suit with no radio, three feet from another astronaut, you can scream all you want, but you'll never be heard. It takes some kind of a medium to carry sound energy (solid, liquid or gaseous). Vacuums (nothing) cannot transfer the energy from your lips to the ears of anyone else. That's why it's best to make sure that you have a reliable radio in your suit.

sound travels as waves.sound waves are longitudinal waves which means they need a medium to travel through. space is a vacume. This means thier is no medium for the sound waves to vibrate through. therefore there is no sound in space. :P so all the starwars films you see where you hear big explosions do not follow science. there wouldnt even be any fire because you need oxygen for things to burn. XD

Sound needs medium to travel. In space there is no medium and therefore one cannot hear one's sound...
