I agree, Madison, Peyton and Mackenzie are all hideous. I hate when people give their precious little girls masculine names when their are so many nice GIRL names to choose from. However, I know a girl named Riley and it was the first time I had ever heard of it and she is a really great person so I guess that's why I don't really mind this name too much. Although, I would still never name my child this, even with the good association.

I suppose it's because people have different tastes. Remember the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure"? For example, out of the list, I never really found the name Riley to be "an overused trailor park name", I actually think it's nice. I'm not a fan of the rest of those names either, and, to me, it's not like they're horrible names (I think stating they were "like diseases" was a bit of a stretch there -- IMO, Mackenzie and Madison are cute, and Peyton is all right) it's just that they don't appeal to me as much as they do to others.

I'm not a fan of the names Mackenzie or Madison but I think saying "there like diseases" is a bit over-the-top. Really it's to each their own and I'm sure some of the names you love might be others least faves.
I have a daughter named Ryleigh and I love the name. I also love the name for boys, spelled Reilly. We chose this name for our daughter 6yrs. ago BEFORE it became so wildly trendy. While I wish it wasn't so trendy and common I don't regret naming her that at all. As I said, I love the name and it suits our daughter perfectly.

I AGREE!!!! Those names are ugly and completely unfeminine. I can't understand the popularity of Riley right now, gosh that is awful, especially for a girl. Whatever happened to beautiful girly names?

I have always liked Madison, but it is so popular so I would never use it. I prefer less popular names. I don't like Mackenzie at all, Riley is just okay. Peyton is pretty good though.

It's a matter of personal choice. I don't really mind those names but I don't like names starting with F or G.

As a teacher you know how many times I've said those names?!!! They are all so popular. They are not at the top of my list but...to each their own.

Why are you picking on normal names? What makes Riley sound like a trailer park name? Nothing's wrong with Madison either. Wow this was an ignorant question.

If you don't like those names, you don't have to name your children them. I think that you will offend people with this quesion. Especially Riley. You shouldn't say the name Riley is a trailor park name. You are entilted to your opinion so keep it to yourself and don't make fun of other people's names
