This world is a world of illusion and nothing is as it appears to be. Those in society who are at the top and are highly visible have less freedom than the rest of us simply because they are constantly in the public eye and are more imprisoned by the conventions of society than those on a lower level of the social ladder.
The face that we show to the world is not our true face. It is merely our persona, a mask that gives us a more desirable or at least a more acceptable image.
Desire for someone and love of someone are two very different things. Love has nothing to do with controlling or manipulating another to your will. When you truly love someone, you are willing to sacrifice your own interests for the sake of your beloved.
Most of the time people use knowledge to promote their own self interests. In so doing, the truth is hidden, vilified, or obscured. Everyone has an agenda. How much of what we read in the newspapers is true and how much of it is deception used to support an agenda. We as intelligent readers are forced to read between the lines.

I have a degree of self understanding already. Power? I have power in certain ways already but I feel as if I lack love? I would want the kind of love that drives and sustains people,

Everything positive has a negative. Mankind is flawed as such what we do presents those flaws again and again. Each is necessary if only to make an example of its opposite.
In the end they are all but illusions both right and wrong, aspects of the mind of man.

Two sides of the same coin...need wisdom and discretion to understand and choose wisely...one side is capable of creating a beautiful life while the other side can destroy self and others too.

Each person, each mind, is a mirror in which the Truth is reflected.
Your comment simply shows that it isn't the imperfections of Life that we need to contend with, but the imperfections of our own mirror.

So, in a nutshell, are you saying that all these qualities can only be measured subjectively? Or that they exist because their opposites exist? Either inference can be drawn from your statement and I agree with them both.
