i had a kid put 4 gallons of water in one
it could damage he fuel pump but it isnt likley if you remove it quickly enoulf to remove it first dont add gas dryers yet
park it on a levil surface remove fuel line at fuel rail under hood hook up a hose from there to a 5 gallon buckes jump the fuel relay and pump the water out keep pumping untill you get only gas
without spitting water with it
now change the fuel filter add your gas dryer
and go
if you let the bucket of water/gas sit it will seperate and you can such the water off the bottem and use the fuel on the top
to suck it off the bottom use a syphen hose

If a little water (like condensation) gets into your gas tank, you can add some "Dry Gas" (comes in a little bottle with a nozzle available at any gas station)...and that will convert the water to gas. If your car sputters while you're driving, it may be because the gas is too watery. Add dry gas and you're good to go.

Some will be trapped by the fuel filter and some will be absorbed by the ethanol in the gasoline. But if you've got more than a quart of water, it will reside in the bottom of the fuel tank and should be pumped out by pumping out the bottom of the tank through the fuel filler pipe. Also, you could add additional ethanol water absorbing additive, but not too much.

How much water? Your fuel pump sucks from the bottom of your take, water is heavier then gas so what do you think it is going to suck up? Water is not OK. A fuel deicer will only absorb so much water, have the tank removed so they can get the water out.

Water is used, of course via a vacumme hose to decarbon a engine.... it works great, but too much can hydrolock it and literally grenade it. Just use a fuel drier (basically isopropyl alchohol though) it'll suck the water up and make it able to burn.
