At least in the US it was a time of a good deal of change for women. They were being given more freedom and more of a role out in the world.

Especially in the 20's there was a change in how they acted. The "flapper" was a role that a lot of women took on. It showed their independence and ability.

They ate generally in the same places as men, since most people still ate at home then (restaurants were more rare and expensive).
More of them went to work outside of the home at this point than before.

There were midgets and bald-headed men everywhere so women didn't have much in the way of choices for husbands,. Mostly they ate gruel, but occasionally they also ate salads. They went to many of the same places we go today: New York City, the circus, shopping at the local grocery store, etc...(sometimes to the local chippendale club, but only if their short, bald husbands didn't find out!) Events that changed thigns for them were things like World Wars I and II, the Appolo moon missions, and the invention of the Sunbeam MixMaster mixer.

Working class women worked in factories, especially in the textile mills and garment industries of NYC. But more and more professions were opening up to women, including telephone operator, secretaries, nursing and teaching. Middle class women very commonly played the piano for home entertainment, went to concerts and plays with their husbands, and adopted more and more labor saving devices for the home, such as vacuum cleaners. Women were very politically active in getting themselves the vote, and one of the first things they voted on was to enforce Prohibition. As for diet, this varied with class. Working class families ate a lot of potatoes and pasta, with nearly everyone able to afford at least some meat in the diet. Middle class women ate a lot of beef and pork, whereas rich women ate many fine delicacies like caviar and champagne and fine pastries. Nearly everyone went to the cinema, both for its newness and because movie tickets were extremely cheap.
As for specific events, jazz was a huge success, and jazz dances became wildly popular, as did speakeasies. More and more women began smoking in public and by the '20's women were entering fields like chemistry and the arts. Isadora Duncan and Josephine Baker were two of the greatest dancers of the period.
