It will run, but you will have to run at low resolution (1024x768) on low settings, with all of the effects and filters turned off. It will look like crap.

Crysis' story is not good (check the review sites). It's only worth playing for the next gen graphics, but you need a system that will run it.

Most probably not. Sure, the 8500gt is Direct X 10 enabled, but very badly. It would run direct x 10 games like a slideshow. Plus, its slow on other new direct x 9 games due to its 128 bit architecture. Oblivion, for example, on my MSI 8500gt 512mb card, runs with about 30-35 fps on medium settings with a resolution of about 800 x 600, and thats comparatively poor.

Although, some companies do exceed the specifications with the same price, i believe Palit made an 8500gt that was mega.

Although in your budget, and the types of games you described, the 8500gt wouldnt be a bad choice. But do you want to spend less now and play current games, or invest a bit more into say, an 8800gt or 8600gt, to play future games?

Crysis and all other high-end video games post "minimum hardware requirements" on their web site. Not only does the graphics card need to meet those requirements, the CPU. RAM and other hardware must, too.

So, no "older PC" can be made to run some Games simply by adding a high end graphics card.

Please re-post with a full description of your PC and maybe we can help.

The 8500gt is extra perfect than the 6600. inspite of the undeniable fact that it fairly relies upon on what style of video games you are attempting to place. in case you desire to interest extra advantageous than gentle video games, then i desire to advise the 8600gt 512mb for basically slightly extra advantageous than the 8500gt. it would be a extra perfect purchase.

It should be able to, but not on extreme levels. You should be able to put it on medium and be fine.
