Or is it just a waste of money?

It does help. What injector cleaner is an octane boost with specially designed detergents to remove carbon buildup and gunky fuel deposits from your lines. This only really needs to be done once a year or so as part of your regular maintenance. It'll help a bit with your milage in the long run.

Does Fuel Injector Cleaner Work

If you are using a fuel of high quality (tier one), then you don't really need additives to clean the injectors, because the detergent in these fuels keeps them clean. It has been shown that Chevron, Mobil, Texaco, and Exxon are the cleanest burning fuels (although my sources are old). If you are using cheaper fuels to save money on gas, then FI cleaner will do you a lot of good. Remeber that the intake system of your engine needs to be clean as well, for things to work their best. Make sure the throttle body and pcv valve are showroom clean. THe best FI cleaner I've seen is made by Chevron, in a black bottle.

Yes they work if you don't use high octane/quality fuel ALLthe time. Seafoam is the best and if you siphon it into your air intake vacume system it works better than putting it in the gas. Use a vacume line ahead of the air manifold to draw it into the system. let it suck up until the engine dies and then remove it, re-attach the line and restart the vehicle. once or twice a year is sufficient.

Not as much as you might think. Most gas today already has additives in it that are the same as the product you buy to mix. Chevron gas has the same additive in it they sell in auto parts stores. Your not really getting much additional benefit from the additives you add to the tank.

I use it every 6,000 miles and never had any fuel injector problems with my vehicles but I also use marathon gas and it has STP fuel injector cleaner mixed into it.

It does work but the stuff that you buy at chain stores is a waste of money, the best additive to use is called (BG-44K) and you use it twice a year.
