That is a lame question. There are a million answers

Alphabetically verses Phonically
Alphabetically verses Numerically
Inspection verses Programmatically
Ascending verses Decending
Length verses Width
...this list goes on....

Can you give us any sort of context?

How about by date. Say the dates of events in history. This could be done on a time line.

Another way might be by say what sort of thing you are dealing with: plant bird or otherwise.

Alphabetically and numerically come to my mind. But as you can see, depending on the type and amount of data, you may have other more subjective choices.
