hunger only lasts for the first 2 days of the fast. After that the sensation kinda leaves and its gets easier. Now thirst, thats a different story. I have been camping in the wild and run out of water and drank what ever I could find. Even water out of a nasty stream. I suspose I might have even drank horse piss (after distilling it of course).
