What do mean by AC Engineers ?
In General AC Design and Development, Engineers could make up to $200 K/YR working as captive employees( Sr. MTS or Chief Scientist, 20 years Experience). To get an Average you need to know about the education and experience.
I am not sure what's the Engineers entry level salaries these days? If you are talking about AC maintenance and repair, they top about $150 K/YR working for a company.
Now a flight Engineer who is part of the cockpits crew, I'm just guessing perhaps $100- $150 K/YR, as an air line employee.

It really depends on what do you do. Aircraft is not designed by 1 person. It's designed by a group of engineers.
Control system engineer, @ $120K
Combustion mechanical engineer, @ $ 120K
Pnumatic mechanical engineer, @ $ 120K
Production engineer, @ $ 90K
Structural engineer, @ $ 200K
