Alone. My children are going to visit their biological father for Christmas, and all my friends are visiting their family in other states. I guess I could go to the DFacs for Christmas dinner, but I think I will pass. It is okay...its the life we chose.

We will be spending Christmas like we usually do. Getting up early, opening up gifts, taking tons of pictures (which we will send to hubby via the computer) and just enjoying the day. We will not change anything about the day because hubby isn't here. Harder on kids and me. And then we will wait for hubby to call and wish us all a Merry Christmas.

We will also have a friend and her girls over since her hubby is deployed as well. But even so we always have a house full on any holiday, weather it be friends, family or single soldiers.

Merry Christmas Everyone and Happy Holidays

You're right, NWIP. My hubby may be home this year for Christmas, but in 19 years of marriage we have spent Christmas with our extended family 4 times. The rest of the time we have either been overseas or stationed in areas where it really wasn't safe to travel in December. And many of those Christmas' overseas were without hubby.
My hubby's family will be having a Christmas brunch on Sunday, opening presents and enjoying time together, as they do every year. We've yet to be able to join them in this family tradition. Maybe when he retires......

For us, Christmas means our small family and any young airmen with no where to be.

I will be spending Christmas here in Iraq, my unit has planned a little get together where we will be exchanging some gifts to eachother (secret santa). I volunteered to bar-b-q chicken on a grill outside of our tent, so everyone can get a small taste of home cooking. It's not the same as being home but we will "adapt & overcome."
Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year to everyone back in the USA!

When I was overseas I had a Xmas Tree, lots of presents from my friends, we got together and cooked a great meal, drank, played good music and had a ball. One of my best Christmas's ever. Didn't have to deal with family dynamics. Are you talking overseas or those in Iraq and Afghanistan? We have military serving all over the world.

I will be spending Christmas with my father and my twin and her family while my husband is overseas. I am hoping that his sons come up to see me during the holidays, but we'll see. I plan on getting on the web cam with my hubby on Christmas Eve, or day, so we can watch each other open our presents. My heart goes out to the other families spending this year without their family member!

Hi Jen, For the last 3 years I have spent my Christmas Overseas, This year I am lucky and will spend it at home in Oz. I never had a problem with celebrating Xmas overseas. We had great dinners and as much soft drink we could handle. (Muslim Country). Australians will celebrate no matter where they are, and enjoy it. Our Troups, No Worries.

There is lots of families out there who will be without a loved one there because of a deployment during the holidays. It isn't the first and it won't be the last. It is hard but you still have to go on and make the day go by.

Don't forget the families who are overseas as well. There is lots of us in foreign countries around the world this holiday time as well.

I am proud to have sen on the TV our PM has gone to Iraq to visit these great Aussies and to tell them they will be home soon.
Good on our PM, and lets hope all our troops have a safe festive season wherever they are across the world.
