Ok so i used 3 programs to recover data which mysteriously disappeared from my NTFS pc hard drive. When i use these programs i see the pictures/videos i want to recover. When i reocover them nothing... 98% are corrupt. WHY? if the program can see the files why can't it just recover them? Would i disk defragment or cleanup fix the problem?

the programs you installed probably overwrote the files you were trying to recover .... the recovery software can see "bits" of the files you lost but not all the bits so they're showing as corrupt

They are corrupt because they must've got over-written when you booted/rebooted your system between the time u lost it and recovered it.
Recovery programs can only recover programs that were lost but are still there in the memory.
If you defragment or clean up the disk, everything will be lost.
The only option left for you is to recover the 2% good files.

Whenever data is lost, the first n foremost thing to do is to run a recovery s/w. That will help u save more files.
