The phrase He shall be called a Nazarene is not a Biblically recorded prophecy, but probably just a well known rabbinical prophecy or interpretation. Since to take the vow of a Nazarene was a special mark of holiness, it seemed natural that the Messiah would be a Nazarene. But Matthew shows how this was true in a different way - Jesus was from the city of Nazareth, and not a Nazarene through a vow.

Yes, dear one, a Nazarene is someone from Nazareth whereas a Nazarite is someone who is set apart for a special purpose unto God. Instructions regarding a Nazarite may be found in the book of Numbers, Chapter 6; Numbers is the 4th book of the OT.
The passage you refer to in Judges 13:5 is in reference to SAMSON; not Jesus: Just read a little further in the same chapter....
Jdg 13:24 And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.
And MATTHEW is the first book in the NT; not OT.
Merry Christmas, Sara!!!

Try to go into a dictionary and check the meaning of Nazareth.
Here is the prophecy:
------
Zechariah 6:12-13 . . . Thus spake Jehovah of Hosts, saying: Lo, a man! A Shoot (other translations: Sprout, Branch)-- is his name, And from his place he doth shoot up, And he hath built the temple of Jehovah. 13Yea, he doth build the temple of Jehovah, And he doth bear away honour, And he hath sat and ruled on His throne, And hath been a priest on His throne, And a counsel of peace is between both. (YLT)
---------
The following is a quote from my homepage found at my profile. Page two of 'Christ's Presence.'
A side step: The prophecy about sprout has a fulfillment in Christ living in Nazareth. Nazareth means sprout.
Strong's Hebrew Dictionary says about "Branch " in Zech 6:12: 06780: tsemach tseh'-makh from 6779; a sprout (usually concrete), literal or figurative:--branch, bud, that which (where) grew (upon), spring(-ing). see HEBREW for 06779
Matt 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene. (KJV)

Like it said, "...which was SPOKEN" not "As it is written" in other cases.
Nazarene = native of Nazareth
Nazarite = consecrated or separated; something set apart
Jesus drank from the fruit of the vine and touched the dead; he was NOT a Nazarite. Nazarites were not allowed to do these things.
