Rockastar! HI! God often throughout the old and New Testament chose people that made big mistakes, like David, Saul, and in the New T. one of the apostles was a tax collector, and others had some issues. Who knows really? I think he did it to show us that the lost can be saved and once truly saved will follow the will of God.

Well to show the unfathammable mercy He has on sinners. In Rom 9:17 "For the scripture says to Pharaoh 'I raised you up for this very purpose that I might display My power in you and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth' 18 "Therefore God has mercy on Whom He has mercy and hardens Whom He hardens."
And yes you are right some people will search all their life and wont be saved as Romans 9:16 also says "Therefore it does not depend on the man who wills but on God who has mercy. " People must understand the concept that God is in control and elect whom He loves as Rom8:28-30 shows. As John 10 Jesus said "You did not choose Me but I chose you." And John 15 "For no one can come through Me unless the Father draws him."
God chooses. Rom 9 also says"Does not the Potter have the right over the clay to make from the same lump a vessel for honorable use and another for common use?" We are the clay and God will do as He wills Isaiah 46:9-10 "I am God and there is no one like Me creating the end from the beginning and from the ancient times that which had not yet been created saying 'My counsel shall stand and I will do all that is in My pleasure"

He chooses people who need help the most. Those who seek the Lord shall be found but you have to find him in your own way. God loves all of us and all long as we want to be with him and follow his word who will be saved.

Paul is a perfect example. God CHOSE him. God wants all people to come to faith. Those people who actively seek out God are usually looking for something particular. Looking for a friend, looking for a place where their ideas about morality exist, looking for a god that fits their mold. Instead people need to stop looking and listen.
God is everywhere. In the sun rise, in the countless stars, in the birth of a baby, in the intricacies of nature. You need to be open to God in order for God to be present within you.
If you believe in Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven, then God will do the rest.
John 3:16 God so loved the world that he sent his one and only son that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life.

Paul disobeyed God, but then turned and asked for forgiveness. Many people don't realise that in order to find God, you have to believe in him. Ask Him for a sign. That's what I did. If you try to find God, then you will be saved. It might not seem like it now, but us Christians are always trying to find ways to God. We know our sins, and are desperately trying to ask forgiveness.

If you seek God with your whole heart he will find you. You don't find God because your the one who was gone astray. God finds us , just like the story of Israel when they backslide from him and fornicated, It says that he found it in the field. If you seek him with your whole heart, he wont leave you nor forsake you.

We don't know what is in the heart of those who seek God. Mostly we seek God so we can manipulate Him to do what we want.

The Lord is constantly knocking on the door of each and every heart of mankind. Everyone. If a person does not find God, it is not because God was not there to be found. He is very patient and will anyone who is sincere.

remember when I was first baptised in the Holy Spirit. I was crying because I believed that Christ died at Calvary to save me from my sins. It was a beautiful experience. I had to ask God first to reveal himself to me in prayer. I prayed this prayer for about a week in Jesus' name believing I was going to get an answer. And Christ answered my prayer.
As God says in Jeremiah, "Seek me and you will find me when you seek me with all your heart".
As God says in Matthew, "Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be open"
