I guess I could start with the question "Why do so many people come onto the tattoo questions just to run down those brave, individual and cool enough to indulge in body art?" I have major coverage, am a Proffessional Tattoo Artist, but you could pass me in the street and not know. I choose not to flaunt my body art, not because I'm not proud of it, heaven know's I should be for the sheer physical effort and cost of it, but because of the narrow minded people afoot in a so called Democracy. I also choose not to pass judgement on those that like a different type of music to me, grow their hair long, wear trousers that could fall down at the drop of a hat, expose parts of their bodies that they consider sexy, get drunk or high in public, let alone the ones born different.
Tattoo art is a personal thing, and maybe pointless to some, but the marked in the world all deserve not to be judged by the unmarked, lets face it if we all ganged up together against them we'd kick their collective butts.

Personally, I would never get a tattoo, but also would never judge someone who decided to get one. It's a personal decision, one that you really need to think about, because once it's there, it's there. Some people do lose respect in the eyes of such people as parents and bosses (sometimes even co-workers), because they think that someone who has a tattoo is less mature than they are. If you are thinking of getting one or more, definitely think about it before you make the decision.

I think it depends on what the tattoo is of. Generally I think they are artistic and I like them. However, there are some tattoos I don't like. Even if I don't like the particular tattoo, I don't have a problem with the person.

i love to look at other peoples tattoos. every tattoo should have a meaning behind it and when you look at someones tattoos you can usually tell what kind of life they lead. tattoos are a great way to tell a story that you hold very close and dear to your heart. and for those who dont have tattoos more power to you. i think that people who dont have tattoos are just as fine (not in a sexual way, im married) as people who dont. i dont really care if you do got one, none, or many everyone has the right to not be judged or labeled. in the end God is the only person's judgment who matters. so if you want to ink more power to you, if you dont want to ink same goes to you.

Well done, Tattoos can be an art form and, if applied to a body of similar attractiveness, well built, symetrical, can be defining,
However, the current fad is soon to be replaced by some other stylish practice and then what do you do with this boay art.
Also the aging process tends to make these quite unattracive as one's skin gets loose, saggin and wrinkled.
AS for the people who do it - likely they are on a dare, drunk or following the current fad - whether the result is artistic or not. As for judging them, why, they are no different than anyone else participationg in some unusual activity. It is their choice, their body, their life. IF they feel that this is necessary to boost their ego or get attention (They are made ot look at) it is their choice. When this kind of thing goes out of acceptance, they are stuck with it.

i was a tattoo artist and can tell you that peoples attitudes here are very different to Europe and the states. here i got sick of people just wanting a heart a name a giggle. its not a giggle. it is art. and as old as mankind. i love to see old sailors because their ink tells a story of their travels. it is on you for life and should be thought about with care. but well done, they are truly beautiful. i remember a studio who's moto was "the only difference between people with tattoos and those without, is that the people with don't care if you are without" i think that says it all
love and laughter

I love tattoos. I have them, I want more. I do question people getting them on the side of their neck or actually on their head, but everywhere else is fine. If you are looking to get your first one just make sure you think about it before you do because they will be there for a long time unless you want to spend the money to get it removed.

I don't judge people with or without tattoos.
I have tattoos but I don't look at people without them and think "why haven't you got a tattoo"
Unfortunately, a lot of people without tattoos seem to think there is something wrong with people that do have them!

I think they're a walking piece of art most of the time unless it's something pointless like the l.o.v.e and h.a.t.e tattoos. Personally I don't have any and wouldn't get any but I certainly don't think any less of people that do have them..
