I was severely nearsighted, 20/425. I got the laser surgery almost 10 years ago and I am still 20/20. My husband had a severe astigmatism and was nearsighted, he got the surgery done the same day I did, he is 20/15.

It doesn't work for farsighted people, I think.

So yeah, it works.

For the great majority, yes.
There are risks, so for between 1-5% of those having it done, the answer can vary between
"It's good but there are some side effects" through
"It's not as good as I hoped" to
"It's been a complete disaster."

This must be understood before proceeding on the reasonable hope that one will be in the 97% who would recommend the procedure to a friend.

Ensuring you are a good candidate helps.
A stable Rx, moderate myopia, modest amounts of astigmatism, pupils not beyond average size, and corneas not thinner than the average are all good factors.

The FDA site below is pretty informative.

Yes, it is usually successful but keep in mind that most people don't have the same prescription all their lives so followup visits will be required. When you start getting into your 40s, you'll also need reading glasses.

yes, laser vision correction is extremely beneficial to people who are partially blind/cant see very well, because they run many tests to see exactly what the have to do beforehand.
