Children learn from the models they see. If you are well-mannered, your children will be too.

Younger children are like sponges; taking in everything and everyone around them, and never forgetting. The things that children see other people do tend to be interpreted as what is "right" or acceptable in this new world, and so they imitate.

The best and simplest way to do this is to lead by example, I think. Encouraging good manners rather than forcing also helps out a fair bit, too.

By your personal behaviour. Behave well always in their presence. Certainly it will help both ways. The children will learn and yourself will be a good citizen, parent, teacher, leader etc.

practice, practice, practice...... at home, in public....but mostly at home and don't expect perfection.....expect them to slip up and forget at times, ..... in other words -- it's not the ending of the world because they act like children normally act....but practicing good manners reinforces it to them.
